Hi! My name is Sharat Kapoor, I’m a 1st year student studying Multimedia Technology. I came to the University of Greenwich as a mature student looking for change in career. I was previously a navigation officer in the merchant navy and did that for almost 10 years. It was an amazing job but being away from home for long periods of time started to become really irritating as I found I was missing out on so many things at home. During my time in the navy it wasn’t all bad. I got to travel all over the world and meet many people from all walks of life. By the time I was 25, I had managed to set foot on every continent (almost twice in some cases).
After my last trip, which was just under 11 months, I decided I had had enough and quit my job. I decided to come to the University of Greenwich to study Multimedia Technology as I had a developed a keen interest in photography and when I was home, also used to work with my best friend who was a DJ at the time. I used to create lightshows with various special effects for his gigs at a number of clubs and bars in Essex and managed to turn it into quite a profitable business. I felt that this course would help me develop my skills and also provide me with a professional qualification in this field.
